“Of whom and of what indeed can I say: ”I know that!” This heart within me I can feel, and I judge that it exists. This world I can touch, and I likewise judge that it exists. There ends all my knowledge, and the rest is construction. For if I try to seize this self of which I feel sure, if I try to define and to summarize it, it is nothing but water slipping through my fingers” ~ Albert Camus
Welcome to Sesa Me Suban! You may be wondering what the name of this website means… glad you asked. Sesa Wo Suban means Change your character in Twi, a native tongue of Ghana, West Africa. The corresponding Adinkra symbol is a native art form, each symbol has a specific meaning. Sesa Me Suban, change my character, is about challenging myself to embrace new things while keeping an open mind.
These past two years have been exciting and full of new experiences. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to combine my love of travel and culture while continuing to work in the health field. Each experience has left me grateful yet bewildered; amazed at the strength and dignity of people I meet and bewildered about the clash between politics, culture, power and gender. Whether standing in a refugee camp or a major metropolitan city, traveling has reaffirmed that we globally have more in common than differences. Equally, the simple things in life mean the most. This website, like myself, is an eclectic mix. I hope you enjoy reading my posts and please be sure to provide feedback! ~Amma
